Cavnue’s mission is to unlock autonomous mobility and save lives, time, and money. We do this by building the roads of the future.

At Cavnue, we’re powering the roads of the future with digital insights derived from a virtual environment that spans streets, counties, cities, and states. We’re building a team that knows how to create awesome visualizations that keep track of accidents, congestion, and ice formation. We’re architecting and designing data collection systems and ML Ops pipelines that run at hyperscale. And we’re looking for great developers who want to come along for the journey.

As a software engineer, you’ll build usable, performant, and user-centered applications that support our external stakeholders and also internal teams. You’ll work as part of a tight-knit community of machine learning experts, finance pros, and seasoned hardware engineers. We’re looking for developers who understand when to use open source, and when to roll your own code.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement new systems, services, and features to support our product architecture and processes. Primary areas include:

    • Platform – powerful building blocks point the way to great products

    • Developer Experience – great environments usher great software

    • Application and Visualization – every pixel and millisecond matters

    • Integration – connect the parts to make the system work

    • Verification and Validation – mission critical software warrants world-class testing

  • Engineer data structures, databases, and data lakes for optimal performance and reactivity

  • Work with Typescript (React), Python, GraphQL, Postgres, Three.js/WebGL, or C++

  • Assurance of high-quality code through standards adoption, lifecycle testing, and continuous monitoring for opportunities to improve

  • Establish low-latency/high throughput APIs on streaming packets of data from the edge

  • Contribute to a health and positive engineering culture

Requirements:

  • Experience working in the domain of your team of interest. Such as:

    • Front-end application design experience for at least three or more web-native applications

    • Back-end infrastructure design for at least two enterprise scale applications/tools

    • Development of complex build processes and optimizing developer workflows

    • Creating beautiful and powerful end-user applications

  • A history of building software in highly-collaborative environments

  • Willingness and eagerness to think about how to solve problems for multiple users through common interaction patterns

  • Understanding of how to delight end-users who aren’t tech-native as well as ones who breathe code

  • For senior roles, experience managing products from design into production

  • MS/BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience

Nice to haves:

  • Strong architectural skills in system and process design

  • Familiarity with geospatial analytics and visualization frameworks (E.G., Leaflet, Mapbox.js, Kepler)

  • Experience with API design and production support

  • ML Ops experience throughout the model lifecycle or previous collaboration with machine learning engineers/data scientists

  • Familiarity with benchmarking best practices

  • Knowledge of embedded systems, machine learning and AI,

  • Any knowledge of automotive or transportation industries

We are building an incredible team of employees with diverse backgrounds and experiences. We believe that great work can occur anywhere and are open to considering candidates who meet our needs who reside outside our geographic footprint. We also value the impact that can result from co-located teams and some roles may require regular presence in one of our offices.
