Staff Reliability Engineer

We believe that the future of transportation is automated. Automated travel will be safer, more comfortable, more efficient and a powerful economic enabler for our communities. However, automating driving is a massively complex engineering challenge, requiring vehicles to navigate social norms, regional traffic patterns, unpredictable weather incidents, and a host of anomalous events. While billions of dollars have already been spent trying to solve this problem, a comprehensive answer remains frustratingly elusive. We believe that the final answer lies with roadway infrastructure.

Join us in building the roads of the future. Cavnue, which in April 2022 announced the closing of its Series A at $130M, is bridging technology and road infrastructure to realize a safer, more efficient, and more accessible future for automated transportation. Cavnue’s experienced team sits at the intersection of technology, infrastructure, and government—working together to develop and deploy the world’s most advanced roads. We are incorporating physical and digital infrastructure that unlock the full spectrum of capabilities of current and future automated vehicle technologies. We believe in a world in which road infrastructure shares in the complexity of autonomy and, instead of being another problem to solve for, becomes a core part of the solution.

The Role

As a Staff Reliability Engineer, you will work with the Technology teams at Cavnue to develop and execute robust reliability testing and failure analysis to ensure our product requirements are met. Your expertise and focus on reliability metrics and detailed root cause analysis will be valuable inputs into systems requirements and integration, as well as design and manufacturing iterations.
If you are a hands-on reliability engineering expert who is passionate about building reliable hardware and launching products, we would love to talk to you!

  • Develop reliability test plans aligned with product engineering requirements
  • Lead the development of reliability performance metrics, obtain alignment across disciplines, and conduct reviews to evaluate progress
  • Lead definition of reliability testing methodology and test execution to ensure compliance with product durability requirements
  • Drive the failure analysis process with cross-functional teams for all failures identified during reliability testing, feedback relevant findings to support DFx
  • Define and lead the manufacturing and field failure triage processes, establishing a scalable system to ensure all failures discovered during manufacturing builds and field operations are properly documented, root caused, and resolved if appropriate
  • Be hands-on to perform tests, root cause analysis, and collaborate with test, design, and manufacturing engineers to support continuous improvements

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in a relevant engineering discipline
  • 6+ years experience as a failure analysis and/or reliability engineer
  • Experience delivering on complex technical products, such as sensors or high-end electronics for outdoor applications
  • Experience with statistical data analysis, modeling, and risk assessment
  • Experience with various reliability test and failure analysis techniques
  • Experience applying design for reliability techniques (e.g. FMEA) and driving the effort cross-functionally
