We believe that the future of transportation is automated. Automated travel will be safer, more comfortable, more efficient and a powerful economic enabler for our communities. However, automating driving is a massively complex engineering challenge, requiring vehicles to navigate social norms, regional traffic patterns, unpredictable weather incidents, and a host of anomalous events. While billions of dollars have already been spent trying to solve this problem, a comprehensive answer remains frustratingly elusive. We believe that the final answer lies with roadway infrastructure.
Join us in building the roads of the future. Cavnue, which recently announced the closing of its Series A at $130M, is bridging technology and road infrastructure to realize a safer, more efficient, and more accessible future for automated transportation. Cavnue’s experienced team sits at the intersection of technology, infrastructure, and government—working together to develop and deploy the world’s most advanced roads. We are incorporating physical and digital infrastructure that unlock the full spectrum of capabilities of current and future automated vehicle technologies. We believe in a world in which road infrastructure shares in the complexity of autonomy and, instead of being another problem to solve for, becomes a core part of the solution.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced System Test Lead to develop and execute Cavnue’s system testing to verify and validate our system performance against requirements and the impact of Cavnue’s solutions on automated vehicle (AV) performance. The ideal candidate will have experience building and executing test plans, utilizing simulation, proving grounds, and public roads, as well as analyzing results against our requirements and our performance framework. This role will champion the performance insights, metrics reporting and data driven decision making in support of the development of our physical and digital infrastructure.
Role overview:
- Design and create test strategies and plans based on product and technical roadmap and requirements in collaboration with multiple teams (Product, Engineering, Programs, Safety)
- Work with the Systems team to create requirements based on testing results, FMEAs, and discovered issues
- Determine best test modalities in coordination with Safety and Systems teams to optimize utilization of simulation, proving ground and public roads
- Manage test facilities, as well as internal and external teams to execute tests
- Create dashboards and reports to visualize system and AV performance to communicate insights and contribute to operating reviews and team presentations
- Optimize test efficiencies and processes
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or higher degree in a relevant engineering discipline, or equivalent practical experience
- 6+ years of combined experience in system testing and performance analytics in complex systems such as robotics, automotive, medical devices or equivalent knowledge and work experience.
- 2+ years of experience in the field of Autonomous Technology such as Self-Driving Vehicles or ADAS is preferred
- Expertise in building test strategies and plans that coordinate among multiple test modalities and environments
- Experience with software engineering concepts such as source control, build processes, regression testing utilizing issue tracking and configuration management tools (e.g: Atlassian Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket, Git)
- Experience using statistics and large data sets to analyze test results and draw conclusions
- Experience with using scripting languages such as Python
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated, creative, and proactive to meet tight schedules and work in fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication, organizational and leadership skills
- Domestic travel required, up to once a month
- Early-stage start-up experience is a plus
